Millions of passengers pass through San Jose International Airport each year. The airport is located just outside San Jose and is owned and operated by the City of San Jose. It is one of the Bay Area’s newest airports and is one of the most busy and popular in the area. Several major airlines run through San Jose International Airport, but the most prominent are American Airline, Continental Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Delta, Southwest, US Airways and JetBlue.
San Jose International Has Free Wi-FI
One of the most prominent features of San Jose International Airport is the free WI-FI. In most US airports, passengers must pay a fee to access the internet. Wireless internet is readily available and free in all public areas of the airport. Additionally, passengers have the added benefit of 24-hour customer support when using WI-FI.
Where to Eat
There are a number of places to eat in San Jose International Airport. There are a few national chains such as Peet’s Coffee and Tea and Starbucks along with some local restaurants. San Jose’s oldest Italian delicatessen called Chiaramonte’s Deli serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. An eatery called Fresh Attractions offers sandwiches, pastries, and salads, and a bar called Gordon Biersch Brewing Company specializes in fresh Micro Brew German style lagers.
Shopping and Sightseeing in San Jose International
The airport also has several shops including a full-service bookstore called Authors Bookstore, and several newsstands that include CNN Newsstand and Hudson News. Shops like Discover San Jose allow passengers the chance to grab local souvenirs and other memorabilia.
Art is also an important feature of the airport. There are a variety of art installations throughout the airport. The installations were conceived from a program called Art Plus Technology that showcases the creativity, energy and diversity that define San Jose and the Bay Area. All of the art throughout the airport is inspired by technology. Two of the most popular art installations include the Space Observer and the eCloud.
San Jose International Airport Parking
In 2011, the airport opened a brand new parking facility for travelers. The new parking lots created at the airport are closer to the terminals. New hourly and daily lots make it easier for overnight visitors and travelers that need a parking space within walking distance to the terminals. Travelers should expect to pay around $2 per hour for parking or a flat daily rate of $22. The airport also provides an economy terminal that has $15 per day parking. There is also a bicycle rack located outside of Terminal A’s short-term parking garage.
